Episode 5: It’s a tree’s life
This episode begins with the sad clearance of woodland at Gotan where we do see some examples of more civilised interaction coming from the police, including with Ian Blair, the then Assistant Chief Constable.
We also get a sense of what it is like to experience living in a natural environment and how activists' relationships develop with the trees, which brings us to one of the main and most fulfilling activities at the camps. This being the building of tree houses.
We hear some fantastic stories as those at the camps reminisce about their time there and discuss the precarious, but beneficial nature of being on a walkway between two trees if you are there to save them from being felled.
