Episode 5 starts with a depiction of a young Philius receiving some life advice from his mother who we realise is close to death, with Philius unable to do anything to stop his mother’s passing.
After a final half a kilometer hike our group finally reaches the village of Long Sa’an where the music and the spirit of the Dayak people are felt by all in attendance and beautifully articulated by Kevin Locke.
The episode ends with a depiction of a young Philius and friends engaging in traditional hunting methods before we hear Gede Robi sing a song about the forest, river and the people of this place, whilst he also reflects on the Dayak People’s culture and how it was shaped by the environment they were surrounded by.
