In the final episode the team reflect upon the journey they’ve had and what they’ll take away from the experience. Gede Robi plays us out with a powerful tune before Philius recognises the difficulty of day to day life in Long Sa’an for his parents and those that came before.
As the team start the descent downhill back to the river and the awaiting boat, Ramses of the Long Sa’an People lights a small ceremonial fire, which is something that is always done when leaving a former Dayak village.
Our documentary concludes in the village of Setalung in 2015 where the people of Long Sa’an resettled in 1968 and the descendants of Long Sa’an live on until this day. Could they still return one day?
