NVDA [9/12] De-escalation Role Play

(30 mins)

Get into groups of three (pairs also work: use pairs if numbers are low ie less than 6 in a group). Each group needs some space.

One person is an angry driver: imagine you are late for an important occasion.

One person is de-escalating the driver . Position yourself out of arms reach of the driver. If driver is seated DON’T lean over the driver from above - which would feel imposing.

One person is observing a short distance away: notice what seems to work and what is problematic.

Do the role play 3 times so everyone gets a turn, each turn time 90 seconds. End each turn by saying REALITY For one of these 3 turns have the angry driver be an OIL TANKER DRIVER: “I don't get paid unless I’m driving!”
